My name is Alan Davidson and I operate AD Driving School, an independent driving school. I am based in Dublin 18.

Any student taking driving lessons with me is assured of my full attention. The idea of learning to drive can sometimes be frightening. However, when you’re working with a patient, polite and knowledgeable instructor all of your fears will be alleviated.

Registered and Approved by RSA

I am a Registered and Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) with the Irish Road Safety Authority (www.rsa.ie) having been assessed by the RSA to ensure that I have:

  • Satisfied the Registrar that I am a person of good character, being tax compliant and in possession of a tax clearance certificate and holding a full driving license.
  • Passed the thorough Garda Vetting Process.
  • Successfully completed the three-stage RSA qualification process:
    • Driver theory test
    • Practical driving test
    • Instructional ability test

Voluntary Code of Practice

I have voluntarily signed and adhere to the RSA and ADI  Voluntary Code of Practice, which was created to help Driving Instructors provide an excellent level of customer service to their clients.

The Code of Practice sets out standards within which learner drivers can reasonably expect their driving instructors to operate in relation to:

  • Personal Conduct
  • Business Conduct
  • Lesson Structure

I have also committed to continuing professional development by keeping up-to-date with both theoretical and technical developments to maintain my credentials and reputation as a professional driving instructor.

Only ADIs who have signed up to the ADI Voluntary Code of Practice are permitted to have The Quality approved mark displayed.

Registration Permit

My RSA Registration Permit will be displayed in the vehicle which I am giving instruction.  It will indicate my name, registration expiry date and ADI number and will also include my photograph.

My registration must be renewed every 2 years with the RSA.

What this means for you, as a learner driver, is better, more consistent standards and therefore better instruction for:

  • Knowledge of rules of the road and road safety
  • Driving ability
  • Greater probability of passing your driving test
